What a disappointment! My friend said she had found the trail for this hike, and I had heard nothing but great things about it. But...the trail she found ended up being only a mere 1-1.5-mile hike up a paved fire-road. It was basically a straight up shot, so challenging for this who are out of shape or don't hike frequently. But nonetheless too short and the fact it was a paved fire road...killed me. Can't consider it a hike if we are basically on the street. The famous rock had a huge line of people waiting to take a picture on it. I did not wait in this line, so I didn't get the famous picture, but I was quite fine with this. Do your research and hike up from Lake Poway or Mt. Woodson trail. 4 to 7-mile hikes with those options and I read, it's real dirt hiking. HAHA. Granted if you take the other trails and arrive at the long line, I'm sure it will disappoint you as well. So if you want one really bad, go super early and can beat the crowds. Would love to go back and hike one of the longer/real hikes. Stay tuned for another blog post when I do it. Will tell you all about it. Also the hike is North of San Diego, Southeast of Escondido...somewhat close the the San Diego Zoo.

A different rock I took a picture on. Instead of waiting in line.
