This hike can be the easiest stroll through a park...Or an up and down style with moderately steep hills consistently until you reach the lake area. Two main places to park, one on each side of the park. With the one nearest the lake, having pay stations for parking. The other side is free street parking and I would recommend parking here. It is off Peter's Canyon Road. The easy loop is going up the middle of the park, with little to no elevation gain. From here you have the option of reaching the lake and going back for a short sweet nature walk. Or you can add the lake loop...or you can hike back East Ridge View Trail for some actual elevation gain for a bit more of a challenge.

I typically do a 6-mile loop starting on the free parking side of the park. I start by going up the right side to East Ridge View Trail. Which is an immediate hard right after crossing the reservoir area. Then I would take Lake View Trail around the lake, and back up East Ridge View Trail to where I parked. I like to sprint the uphills and walk/jog the downhills to make this a more challenging hike. To hike the the loop I usually do takes around 2 hours if you're just hiking, not sprinting. It is dog-friendly and can stick to the easy Peter's Canyon Trail for a casual dog like stroll with minimal elevation gain.

If you go down the middle (easy) trail, there is a lot of shade. If you go to the East Ridge, it is more sun exposed and would highly recommend sunscreen or to stay covered. Always bring water and enjoy your hike!
