As one of the So-Cal Six Pack hikes, this 14-mile trek up to the tallest peak in L.A./O.C. area at 10,064 feet. Make sure to plan a full day for this challenging hike. A must do for those who live in the area, with two different ways up. The easy stroll around the side or straight up the gut. Make sure to pack lots of water, food, sunscreen and possibly a jacket for the top depending on the time of the year. We hiked mid-summer and went shirtless on the summit because it was so dang hot. About 6-hours of total hiking time as we went up Devil's Backbone due to some of the people I was hiking with.

They weren't avid hikers and one was afraid of heights. I'm certain I could do this hike in 4-5 hours alone or with hikers my speed. There were a few spots which may make those afraid of heights a bit squeamish, which is where our friend broke down crying. Not to scare anyone off, as I was not afraid at all, but wanted it to be known for those who are. Overall a constant trek up with a lot of elevation gain. Make sure you understand the "lack" of oxygen feeling and this will be a piece of cake. Have not tried in winter, only try this if you own spikes. Have heard a few horror stories from those who attempted in sneakers.
