Located off Santa Anita Ave. in Sierra Madre/Arcadia. Nice winding 2 lane road up to the Chantry Flat parking lot. Here you have multiple options of hikes to do. That's the nice part of this area. The two hikes I have done are; to the falls and back, and also the big 10 mile loop. Although the falls can and will be seen if you do the big 10 mile loop. To the falls and back is roughly 3-miles and is really easy, for most avid hikers. But, when you are almost back to the parking lot...you then realize how much you descended to start off and can be a quick calf burner back up to the cars. Definitely an easy 1-hour trip. Also if you head downstream there are more falls about 3/4 - 1 mile down the trail. Heard you can jump into these ones, but did not see that being done when I walked down there. So would look into that, before attempting.

For the loop, you continue past/over the falls deep into real "nature" with trees everywhere and the smell of mountains. It is the closest feeling I have received to actually being in the real true mountains here in SoCal. Feel free to go and summit Mt. Wilson(part of the SoCal Six Pack) while on this loop or just continue around and make that a separate trip. Lots of tree coverage and decent views once you're up closer to the top area. Can we wildlife so bring protection and be on the lookout if you go solo. It took us about 3-hours to complete with minimal stops, as we are power hikers lol. I've had friends say it took them 5-hours, but they stopped a lot and brought their dog. Yes, dog friendly on leashes. If you're looking for a good workout and nice environment, then I highly recommend this one. YOU MUST get there before 7 am, or you will not get parking, unless you sit and wait for someone to be finishing up their early hike. Very popular/busy destination. Will need an adventure day or annual pass. Available to purchase at the little station in the top of the parking lot.
