One of Sedona's top 3 most iconic hikes! Although a very short hike from the parking lot to the rock itself, you can explore all the way around it, if you'd like too. Only 1.2 miles out and back without any exploration. My buddy and I decided to explore and ended up on the backside. ALSO.....no one believes me, besides my buddy who was there...but....I climbed up one of the giant red rock pillars you can see in the picture. It was not the smartest thing I've ever done, but I lived to talk about it..haha. Hindsight, I would never do it again. Going up was as easy as spiderman crawling, but coming back down was a little more difficult and unsafe.

The pic I took with the storm rolling in was from the top, and that's the only "proof" I have. The amount of time you spend here is really up to you and your interest in exploring/picnicking. This area is amazing, filled with red rock and views you'll never see anywhere else in this country. I would plan to spend a full weekend minimum in Sedona...and a couple hours to really take in this massive landmark. I often picture the views I saw here just to give myself a reminder of how awesome nature really is. It can get really hot here, so bring plenty of water. Random spots along the rock to hide from the sun, but 95% of it is sun exposed. Bring sunscreen or wear protective gear. Leashed dogs are welcomed.
